Eric,
I know that someone has mentioned something similar to this
before, and not that this is all that important, but the link on
"revert to default layout" on the User Preferences screen covers
a different area than the other two links ("choose a skin" and
"select a locale").
I have also experienced an "Error: This channel failed to render"
message when navigating to the site map and when setting
a locale.
I am running the quick-start on OS X (Tiger), if that matters.
