Thank you very much for that recipe Peter Brett; very useful as I use Thunderbird on both Mac and Linux.

Returning to Macintosh I realise how much my experience on Mac has been enriched by what I learnt from

Hi Alex,

Do you use Thunderbird?  If so, you probably want to:

1. Open the 'Preferences' window
2. Go to the 'Display' page
3. Go to the 'Advanced' tab
4. Disable the checkbox marked 'Show only display name for people in my address book'

This resolved the problem for me.
