Happy New Year Aidan,
I have been using the V6 for about a year and find it really nice to work
with. More than happy with my dollars worth.
I have not upgraded to V6 yet, my main thing is more animation and
particularly character animation,
Cant help you with this ... I do not do enough animation work to even
scratch the surface of the app, so I dont know whether the V6 is massively
ahead of V5.1 or not. What animation work I have done has been easy and fun.
Has the OGL stability improved?
My scenes can be massive. A sizeable boolean effort within huge SDS objects
has shown limits within my machines but again, I work in wireframe
effectively all time so if there were issues I might not have come across
them.
The new options for modelling in terms of the menu bar data of the numbers
for a selection of the most essential properties of a selected object is
delightful. The fact that it is interactive of course, as with the same data
in the objects properties window is totally useful and speeds things up for
me. The selection of edit modes for analytic objects with the direct
interface in the viewport is a treat as well.
Sorry my work flow is so different to yours ... but the above is my 2 cnts
worth all the same.

Subject: Well RS'ers - is ver 6 stable and a good upgrade??
Hi Guys,
I have not upgraded to V6 yet, my main thing is more animation and
particularly character animation, I dont think their has been much done in
this area yet, maybe next version.
I see FBX is supported, but as far as I know only for meshes and not bone
deformation information.
The new BUILDING and TREE tools, what are peoples opinions on these?
Has the OGL stability improved?
Any other thoughts along these lines.
PLEASE DO NOT turn this into a FLAME list message. Constructive thoughts
only for those who are still on V5 or less.
Reasons to be cheerful :)
Cheers
Aidan
