Subject: Re: Can We Use OpenGL in the UV Editor ?
I have been able to use that window all afternoon , and
now , after I got your mail , it is also completely dead !
That's crazy . Like some kind of time bomb , or something .
You are on 64 bit , no ? I'm XP-pro 32 .
64 bit yes , i drink a beer now to cool the nerves ,
do you realy believe on a time bomb , who knows
it's actual... :-)) till yet no smoke seen under my desk...

Hi andre :
It was a long night , but it is safe to come out from under
our desks .
Found the problem . Here's how it went :
(backed up my current RS Install to another drive)
1) Uninstalled and then re-installed 6.01.03 .
2) Start RS . Said Prop' Window (still frozen)
3) Found 3 folders loaded with files that did not get
uninstalled properly . One folder had the problem .
C:\Documents and Settings\studio\.Realsoft 3D 32 V6\windows\
in this folder were some RS window files (why?)
4) Deleted those RS window files .
5) Start RS .
6) Open UV Editor (sometimes called UV View) .
7) Open UV View Properties Window (still frozen)
8) Click in UV Editor and if this doesn't unfreeze the
UV Properties Window ...
9) Toggle On/OFF OpenGL on your View Control Properties
So , quite often an uninstall and a re-install will cure
a S/W's sudden odd behaviour problems , but not when the
uninstall does not do a complete job of cleaning up after
it's self .
Then we will scratch our heads till the bald spots
appear again .
So , are we having fun yet ?

Anyway , if you want to try to learn some SDS texturing
clues (and there are very few around for RS) go to this
link from the forum and see a neat flash video . 25 MB

I spent hours trying to duplicate it but it was somewhat
comedic . It works , but renders differently than the OGL
shows , and the face mappings seem to not want to remember
the colors I assigned them .
I was experimenting on that bizzare default SDS Cylinder
so maybe that's part of the problem .
