Thank you Matthias and Chris.
I even read it in the manual yesterday afternoon, and still would have
forgotten.
I think I can make do with these results. Photoshop is not detecting
the background as transparent, but After Effects does (using Targa).
Tiff does output with transparent bg, but all of the objects are nearly
invisible. I may just render over a green screen and key out the bg.
Thanks again,
Brandon

Thanks Neil, but my material is working fine. I can't render with
alpha channel support so that my background is transparent
(graphic to be used on top of other graphics for a trade show banner).
I think I'll just go with a soft white translucent material (wax
works well) in keyshot, and not worry about a realistic material
with transparency....

Transparency
Dunno if this might help but I use either the fade material (in
materials/library/constant) or the fade value in the Colour tab
of the objects specifications. Then specularity and reflection.
All in separate sub directories .... but no idea if that can help.
And to note in the past fade can be flakey in anims I have found,
that was way back though. Havent noticed it V7..
The only reason to use a fade material, for me, is if I will want
to assign the changing fade value to many different objects in
many different sub directories of the project.

Hi all (whoever is still left :)
I have not been able to find a suitable material in Key Shot to
render a plastic polyethylene vial, so I brushed the dust off of
RS and created my own material (actually a v3 material, not
VSL). Now I need to render with the alpha channel, but I get an
error using the PNG with transparency; same with PhotoShop output.
Any ideas how to get this working? I might be missing something
easy, since it has been a couple years since I did any serious RS
work, but I'm drawing a blank.
The error is:
... now I can't get the error to show again, it just crashes
every time.
TIA for any ideas.
