We have implemented a servlet that can return any Magnolia content.
This is quite easy to do

JNDI might be an option 
http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/modules/jndi.html. The RESTFul 
interface you're looking for could be CMIS, a new cms vendor driven 
standard which Magnolia is probably going to implement 
(http://betterfasterbigger.blogspot.com/2008/11/magnolia-joined-oasis-as
-sponsor-for.html).
