Yea, I thought the same thing. That's why I scoured the internet looking for
the proper way to increase the number of open files. This is what I did:

1. Edit /etc/sysctl.conf, add this line:

    fs.file-max = 400000

2. sysctl -p

3. Edit /etc/security/limits.conf and add ther following lines

    * soft nofile 400000
    * hard nofile 400000

4. reboot

5. ulimit -n

     shows 400000

I did all this as root. My tomcat is also running as root (I know, bad idea,
but it's just for a demo) so my understanding is that I don't have to do
another 'ulimit -n 400000' before starting tomcat.

Anyway, same result, "NoSuchWorkspaceException: dms". But only after properly
installing magnoliaAuthor and then trying to install magnoliaPublic. In other
words, the magnoliaAuthor install works. And if I get rid of the magnoliaAuthor
WAR and just install magnoliaPublic, it also works.

I don't get why I am getting "SQLException: Listener refused the connection"
and "ORA-12519, TNS:no appropriate service handler found" errors ... because of
too many open files?!

Perhaps I should try the "Using a single WAR file with multiple configurations"
solution that's explained in the Magnolia docs?
