Hey, Actually there is currently an effort undertaken by the services team to have a completer integration of solr (based on federico's initial solr configuration).
There are two modules one is called content-indexer and the other solr-search-provider, with the first one you can setup indexers who will listen for events on a specified workspace and path and a fieldmapping. Sol-search-provider is a wrapper around solr's functionality, it exposes faceted search, similar search and range facets as components you can add in your page. Multi-language is supported via dynamic fields. Due to the freshness of those modules, it is not yet in the product, don't know when it will be, so if you want it I suggest you contact us !
