Though I did activate the template was not sure why I am doing
that??!! The default templates from magnolia always shows the red
signal (not activated)!!
When Magnolia bootstrapped, it imported a load of site and config data
in each of author and public as they each started. The red indicator on
the bootstrapped info doesn't really mean a lot -- just that the
authoring instance doesn't know that's on the public instance.
Activating the templates, dialogs, and paragraphs in the config tree
makes that info available to the public instance -- the only way to do
it when the info isn't in the bootstrap files.
Could you take a look at your logs for both author and public to see if
there are any errors? I've found the magnolia-activation and
magnolia-debug logs most helpful.
One other thought with version 3 -- 3 introduces a workflow module. Are
the pages you are expecting sitting in the inbox of the superuser
waiting for you to approve them?

what you expect to get. Looking at a specific page, is the content
old? Are pages mssing?
I have created a single new template and have created two new
pages based on that template. I have copied all relevant files as I
have already mentioned and have activated the pages. Now I expect to
see the new pages on the public instance, where as there is no change
in the public instance. All the pages are new and both of them are
missing in the public instance. To be sure I have even cleared the
Cache and have re-started tomcat, but of no help.
