Is there a reason you are trying to build the source yourself? Do you plan on
making modifications? Why not just use the pre-built jars? Also, have you
thought about using Maven?

Subject: [castor-user] Install Castor on ubuntu

Hello everyone,

We are trying to install Castor 1.3.1 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala (kernel version
2.6.31-21) but we have some problems.
First, we have been searching for some tutorial to install castor. The only one
found was this one (quite old) :

http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/x-xjavacastor1/
After having downloaded the full tgz archive (9,1Mo) and decompressed it, we
tried to launch some install file (the "build.sh" file in the bin directory).

But it is not working well (having a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
org/apache/tools/ant/Main).We verified and ANT is installed.
Trying to solve this, we looked into the build.sh file and it is referencing
.jar's that don't exist ! (from ANT and others).

How do we have to finish our install ? : - downloading the missing jar's and
putting it in the right directory ?- modifying the build.sh (and how if we have
to) ?- other solutions ....

Thanks for every future answer !
Best regards,Jorrit Wortel
