If you are not familiar with Maven, I suggest you learn it because it will make life muuuch easier. The dependency plugin is functionally equivalent to apt-get, but for jars. Also, Maven integrates with Eclipse and Netbeans. Might integrate w/ other IDE's, but I know about those 2 for sure.
