[exec]Tutorial problem

I'm an exec (but not Java) newbie.  I got the Acrobat Reader tutorial 
running ok under Windows Vista but then changed it in order to pass a 
non-existent file.  I end up with an open Acrobat window and a friendly 
message informing me there is no such file.  I have to reply to the message 
and manually shut down the Reader.  What am I doing wrong?  (I realize that 
in this case I could check whether the file exists but I'm interested in a 
more general solution.)  Thanks!
