And furthermore, where's the community discussion about this? Where's the roadmap, the architectural discussion? Or are we all meant to stand back in awe of one person's god-like vision, unexplained, undiscussed, ineffable? That doesn't sound like an Apache project.

Easy now. CouchDB and the community is balancing making a make-your- own-cloud high performance multi-node database and a single-node- standalone-application database. There are forces that pull in one and others that pull in the, well, other direction. I think this is good.

My point isn't about this or any other specific technical issue.

This project seems to be administered in accordance with Damien's unexplained and undiscussed plan. That would be fine, except that this is an Apache project. I'm looking for a discussion of the plan, of the goals, of the future architecture, rather than merely being allowed to discuss some technical details as CouchDB is built according to some private vision.

He made a comment on IRC (wich we all acknowledge is *NOT* an official channel for the transparent development of CouchDB (only for day-to- day issues for us and users). He didn't make any decision. He said we *might* change something. There has been no discussion on any ML, by ASF statues, this means there is no decision. Is it me, or are you being dense? (No offence).

It is good that we get controlled by the community, and appreciate your input Antony, but I think you are taking this a bit out of proportion.

See Chris changing the name of _temp_views because he though we agreed on that months ago. No discussion and actually changes int trunk. Now: A comment on IRC.
