Re (1) The 443 issue may go all the way back to the setcap problem you had. My instructions were wrong - I’ve since corrected them. I don’t think you can run setcap on a program/file that is currently running. Hence I now stop tomcat before running setcap on java. Try that part of the instructions again - and remove your workaround beforehand. Fingers crossed.
