The first attempt was with the RPMs on the build plus the data component on the
opensuse build site (which did not work this was 64 bit with 32 bit stuff).

The second attempt was with RPMs on build site but with 64 bit component built
from AllinOne source. Unfortunately neglected to set Apache user name.
When rebuilt with name set it set up name as equal to group which did not work,
Apache group in SuSE is different from the username. A further attempt to
compile with name and group options set failed completely.

Finally started a rebuild with the recommended SuSE approach to installation
using checkinstall rather than make install which creates rpm and installing
rpm in stages suggested on site. Unfortunately, the build site RPMs did place
some stuff in odd locations (for SuSE) and needed to be uninstalled.

It is not a good idea in SuSE to use "make install" as the package management
infrastructure cannot track any changes you may have made which could mean you
either accidently break something else or something else breaks what you have
installed. (This is a particular issue with YaST Online Update).

Felt some possible issues could be arising with the possibilty of components
being compiled with different versions of compilers so decided on above
approach would eliminate one possible issue.

Local install RPMs have been completed but there is definitely something not
right when datagard runs. I suspect (but I am not certain) that the Apache
group element is not being handled correctly.

If one does not select the PEAR installation option the installation exits and
does not give the opportunity to set a virtual host. If one does select the
PEAR option the problen seems to focus on the midcom\Role_Midgardelement
component.

The first attempt to retrieve it there is a message about an invalid package
and the download fails.

A little later there is further complaint about the ROOT.php in path / because
the role MidgardElement is not valid and not being being able validate the file
package.xml ...

Finally there is the message about the FATAL error due to the undefined
function which I reported earlier. When attempting to access any of the sites
one gets a 403 eror, (apache logging with debug does not give much further
info).

This happens with and without the php.ini setting suggested

BTW: I know little about php, more knowledgeable about perl and java..
