Hi Stefan,

What exactly do you want to achieve?

I was trying to active dependencies declared in a profile.

I see now. It is no problem to activate the profiles if you just need them in order to run maven lifecycle goals (right click on pom.xml -> Run As -> Maven ...).

The next question is, how can I set a system property that activates
different profiles into Eclipse itself. One Answer: by adding -vmargs -Dwas6=true
E.g: My commandline is now
C:\IBM\SDP70\eclipse.exe -product com.ibm.rational.rad.product.ide
-vmargs -Dwas6=true
AFAIK this is your only option right now.

One nit: The "Maven Dependencies" cp container is not re-evaluate until
I save the pom again. It would be nice if the POM (profile elements)
were re-evaluated at startup.
This was abandoned, IIRC because it was too expensive. A Project->Clean and Rebuild should work, though.

I think your request is quite sensible and it would surely help quite a lot of folks out there. See
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/M2ECLIPSE/How+To+Report+Issues
and I think this feature could at some time become reality ;)

Also make sure your request is not to be mistaken for a duplicate of
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNGECLIPSE-173 or similar.
