it works just fine. even the web-dav extension worked with ssl!

what is that global-settings-file preference for? is there any documentation?

yes, it has such a checkbox. wich i already enabled. the debugging-information 
says nothing about the error that causes the compilation failure...

i will try the latest development-release.

Quite funny how Leszek is circling around a problem that isn't the 
problem. In 0.0.5 you couldn't get compilation errors to show. You 
should have a look if this version already includes the "Debug output" 
checkbox on the Window->Preferences->Maven 2 config page OR rather get 
the latest version 0.0.11 from
http://m2eclipse.codehaus.org/update-dev/
