Quite funny how Leszek is circling around a problem that isn't the problem. In 0.0.5 you couldn't get compilation errors to show. You should have a look if this version already includes the "Debug output" checkbox on the Window->Preferences->Maven 2 config page OR rather get the latest version 0.0.11 from
http://m2eclipse.codehaus.org/update-dev/

you should point your eclipse to JDK directory not JRE.
