I had to revert as well, and can sympathise with Andy.

I reverted to a previous configuration.

That might have been (ie probably was) enough, but i (incorrectly)
took the message "Referenced classpath provider does not exist:
org.maven.ide.eclipse.launchconfig.classpathProvider" to mean that
Eclipse had not cleanly reverted.

So (unnecessarily) i tried to reinstall 0.0.12, but Eclipse wouldn't
list it as an available update.

So (again, unnecessarily), i grep'd and deleted all references to
maven, then i was able to re-install 0.0.12

But still i got the message "Referenced classpath provider does not
exist: org.maven.ide.eclipse.launchconfig.classpathProvider".

Turns out that this simply relates to a launch configuration in the
run dialog, fixed by creating a new launch configuration for my
project.

Hope this helps someone.

cheers

Jason
