There is indeed "Check out Maven Projects from SVN" in Import > Other.
Also, if I go to File > New > Other > Maven (instead of File > New >

Thanks Trevor, I see what happen. So, if you would like to see
"Checkout from SCM" option in the "New Project" wizard, please open an
enhancement request in http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNGECLIPSE
Tim, can you please add a clarification to the book and specify how to
open wizard that is shown on the screenshot.
