It's because in the group tree you probably opened the members of a 
group, then you opened the memberships of a user:

Admingroup [subgroup-icon] [member-icon]
   admin user [membership-icon] [parameters-icon]
     Admingroup (already displayed above)

this is to prevent an infinite recursion of group->user->group->user....

Note that under certain circumstances, a group or user will be noted as 
'already displayed' although it is not. I don't know yet why, and a 
workaround is to make it the root of the tree (the little tree icon) and 
to click on 'collapse all', then you can open its children as usual.
