That's the one. The URI processing goes wrong in some cases. I just
stripped out the URI reference in the link. Also, for some reason the M2
news code recognises index and index.htm but not index.html.

I tried that, but it didn't work. I haven't had time yet to check if all the up
pointers were inserted correctly when I entered the subtopics via nadmin.
I'll check it when I've finished writing a paper on e-government.
I've also just realised that the dates of articles under nadmin are display
from and display to dates, not the dates on which an event will occur.
So I'll have to write some code to display the next five seminars, organised
by time and date (we can have more than one per day): unless someone
has already written something I can adapt.
