Yet there were multiple translate_handler comments in the log file, so
multiple requests
are being made. Some of these are cascading style sheet calls, but 11
are not. The
last log only had one request.

I don't know; I really need at least a log of a failed transaction to be
able to tell.

What version midgard are you using? The CVS version has numerous fixes.
