Is there any way to patch the fix to 1.4 without upgrading to 1.4.1Beta ?

Alan reported that some of his 404s were caused by partial filetemplate
activation. I haven't yet found why they would, but a new fix allows you
to disable FTs alltogether, taking that out of the loop.
