My mistake, I had sitegroups disabled. Recompiled, I now too see
root access. I'm having no problems at all, though.

Before we do that, could you try the following:

Mark the last line in the mysql log, then add anything, just a single
thing,
that you know will fail. Then show me the mysql log from the mark down.
