I got this error too, when using the latest midgard-php source package (-7)
with a not-as-modern midgard-lib source package. I "fixed" the problem
simply by removing the last argument in the call to mgd_select_database, and
while it seems that it works, I guess that isn't the recommend procedure.

However, I think it is somewhat unfortunate that the different revisions of
the source packages found at the Midgard site is incompatible with each
other. If I (as in my case) have to download a more modern midgard-php I
shouldn't have to install the latest midgard-lib too (as long as they are
both the same version, e.g. 1.4.1). Note though, that this is the only
problem I have had concerning this issue, so maybe it's the exception that
confirms the rule ;)
