OK, this list should be the right source for answers.

If the existing solution is based on PHP, it is not a problem at
all. It is also possible to run other Web applications separately
of Midgard, or integrate them at XML-RPC or HTTP level (with Midgard
for example providing authentication and templating capabilities
to the other systems).
Also, Midgard provides APIs for all these functionalities if you
want to develop them yourself. The Nadmin Content Management interface
includes an integrated ad management system, and there are other
premade applications like the Midhoo website indexing tool.
There are also companies that can provide services or software for
the platform, for example Nemein Solutions (http://www.nemein.com) and
Hong Kong Linux Center (http://www.hklc.com).

Midgard can be easily be integrated with a regular Web site indexing
tool, like htdig. To see htdig in action on a Midgard-powered site,

If you want a more context-aware searching system, we're currently
working on integrating the GNU mifluz search library to Midgard. Contact
Ami Ganguli ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) for more details.

The current versions of Midgard rely on some specific functionalities
of MySQL, and so are not easy to port to other databases. However, the
next generation Midgard 2 project aims to be usable with a variety of
backend storage solutions. Midgard 2 should be reaching usable stage
in late 2001.
