PEAR does focus on php4.3. As there will be a cli (command line
interface) built by default (even when you build apache).
Your best bet here is to install PEAR on a remote machine (eg. your box
at home) - if it's windows have a look at the weekly news for background
on how to do that - on unix you can use the go-pear stuff.
then just ftp it up to the main server. - as long as you set your 'base
directory for pear files' - if you cant set it in a php.ini use
ini_set('include_patch','/home/me/pear'); in the index.php of midgard-lite,
It's an interesting situation.. - Athought I'm not sure how far PEAR can
go to solve 'all' the issues involved.. - but if you can thing of some
simple things that would assist in the process. = I guess the pear web
stuff as a standalone app might help..
