Thanks! Seems I didn't read the instruction so well after all. MySQL needs to native to PHP.

I think that may be the problem. My phpinfo() says nothing about Midgard now because I'm trying to recompile PHP.

Your phpinfo() output say nothing about Midgard, did you installed
php4-midgard and add something like extension=midgard.so in you php.ini ?
