Hello all, We've finally managed to get Midgard to work on one of our Solaris boxes. Now I'm supposed to set up a test site but I'm getting nowhere right now.
I don't want to create a new site style from scratch only for testing purposes, so I followed the advice on the sample site (to use the same style) which runs as follows: >>To build your own site based on this, you should first create a new website, using the "Simple Dynamic >>Site" template, and create a child style from the "Aegir Sample Site" style. >> >>When you have the new web site created, configure it to use the new style you just created, create a new >>category in "News & Articles" and edit the root page's "code-init" snippet to use the category as the root >>topic. So far, I've managed to create not only one, but many sites. But funnily enough, each one creates an "Empty" Style (shows up in the Styles view), and I can't erase them, even if I've wiped out the site itself first. Then, I managed to create the child style that looks exactly like the parent one (Aegir Sample Site style). But I cannot assign this style to my newly created website - because it won't show up in the list. This phrase: >>When you have the new web site created, configure it to use the new style you just created, looks simple enough, but it isn't. There's nowhere a description where this style is supposed to be configured. If I log in as the company administrator I don't see any websites, I just see the root pages of the sites I deleted previously (all with ** in front of them) so I can't assign any style since I don't see the website ! (NB of course when I created the website under "system administrator" I assigned it to the correct company!) So, actually my questions are: - how do I assign the child style to my newly created website? - how do I make the company administrator "see" a website that is not "empty" (if I create a website based on "Empty" he will see it)? - how do I avoid seeing things that have been deleted? - when's a user manual coming for clueless people like me? PS: By the way, I took a look at your tutorial on http://wwwdev.midgard-project.org/documentation/getting-started/ but that didn't help me either... Aegir looks like a terrific tool and I would really, REALLY like to get it working ! Thanks for your help.
