I just tried to show that the error message was expected.
Please set:
NameVirtualHost 192.168.168.173:80

<VirtualHost 192.168.168.173:80>
    Port 80
    MidgardEngine On
</VirtualHost>

in your midgard.conf
I want to know wether you can access Asgard without problems on port 80. After the restart of apache send the error log again, please.

This is not the correct behaviour for apache, I don't see why it tries to open a directory here, which you are not accessing
