Hi,

I will try and see where I can help...

First, please check if those rights are set correctly in aegir - Aegir
has a AFAIK a bug with setting group permissions when creating a group.
Re-editing those rights works without problem.

Looks like Aegir is a bit inconsistent here.
These are my findings on rights for a PAGE:
- as SG-Admin i created a page named "testpage" and set the author to
the person "testperson" who is member of group "testgroup" with
permissions to view and approve pages
- person "testperson" gets to see "his" page "testpage" without the (ro)
behind it and can even edit that page, but when pressing "submit" gets a
 "permission denied"
- "testperson" can approve/disapprove his page as expected
- "testperson" can NOT approve/disapprove pages owned by others

conclusion: only members of the admin group seem to be able to create
and edit new pages, other members can be given the right to
approve/disapprove a page by setting the author-field the that person.

(This seems to be a design flaw, since other elements (styles, topics)
are controlled by settting the owner to a group, not a person...)

Yep, small typo here.

another aegir-"feature" I never understood.
You have to make your person a power-user (edit person/Details, check
the PowerUser-field) to enable style- and pageelements.
(this also turns on the features to edit parameters and set scores (i.e.
"sort" articles and topics))

You are right, but unfortunately Aegir 1.x is not getting developed any
further...
Luckily most of those "bugs" (there is a bunch more, most of them
smaller ones) don't affect the workflow too much.
I have made good experiences with leaving the rights for pages to the
admin group and making most of the settings and changes in styles and
style-elements which are easier to "user-control".
Most of our customers just want to see and edit their topics and
articles anyway...

Hope I could help a bit,
I would really like to see Aegir 1.x developed further, but
unfortunately i don't have enough time and experience to take on the
job. If anyone volunteers though I would be more than happy to provide a
few fixes and patches i have made.
(for example for changing the behavior of index-articles being created
UPPERCASE, for setting descriptions to the extraN fields, and 2
alpha-state AddOns for Aegir providing a forum and a photogallery
- If anyone is interested, just drop me a note)

Regards,

Alex
