It depends on what version you're talking about. Given it's OpenEJB 2.0, the answer is negative, i.e. there's no difference between OpenEJB 2.0 and OpenEJB embedded in Geronimo.

In fact, OpenEJB 2.0 has always been developed with Geronimo in mind, so every decision that was made in OpenEJB 2.0 was heavily influenced by Geronimo developments. This is clearly visible in the features available - no Tomcat support, no features that allow OpenEJB to run standalone and others that aren't around EJB support.
