Thanks, the two postings contained some helpful thoughts why issues like those are not reported. But maybe the easiest way to know why it wasn't reported is to just ask the bloggers?
But i think the main problem here is still that blogposts like the linked won't help ownCloud at all (if not found by someone who knows that it is a bug).
