You are right. And you know you are right. I guess that is why you feel free to be sardonic, although you may think this is sarcasm. Be careful about using e-mail to send heated, personally critical or confrontational messages â commonly referred to as "flaming." It is a good rule of thumb not to say anything in an e-mail that you would not respectfully say to an individual face-to-face. E-mail does not convey emotions or subtleties as effectively as face-to-face or telephone conversations. E-mail lacks vocal inflection, gestures, facial expressions and a shared environment. As a result, your correspondent may have difficulty in interpreting the intended tone of your e-mail. For this reason, sarcasm and humor are particularly risky to use in e-mail; use with caution and clarification. <snip> > ... and please *don't* post code! It's very poor etiquette. I can tell from your authoratative tone and your authoratative stance that you are a very experienced and brilliant. But, you you seem to be failing when coming to some sort of accurate appraisal of what is considered etiquette on the lists. Why don't you check out the posts on this list or even on this thread, for example? I have never read anyone say that posting code is lacking in etiquette. Indeed, I have never read anyone say that posting stack traces that are too long is lacking in etiquette. I have read people saying that posting long stack traces is ineffective, because they are hard to read. I suppose that the "usual suspects" will back you on this anyway, statistics and Emily Post be damned!
