Tested by installing gzip 1.4 and making sure that foomatic/fppd built
successfully.

I'm sure there are more ways than one to skin this cat, so I'm interested
in hearing about simpler alternatives (apart from 'gzip -rf ...' that is,
which hopefully will be fixed soon).
