Cool, that helped me! Thanks Nathan...

I did some testing of different settings to see what works best in Ubuntu. I
was surprised to find that there are very few fonts that have anywhere near the
line spacing as you can see in Windows. I sized my window to match your
screenshot and the closest I was able to come up with 29 lines in the Package
Explorer window. I got to 29 lines by changing my Gnome "Application font" to
FreeSans Medium 8pt.

  System > Preferences > Font

In the process I discovered that the text editors in Eclipse set their font
based on Eclipse preferences, not system settings. I chose to make it
"Monospace 9pt" which seems to be very close to the same size as the Windows
font, but I think the Linux Monospace font is easier to read. From Eclipse go
to:

Window > Preferences > General > Apperance > Colors and Fonts > Basic > Text
Font

Hope that helps,

Nathan

Interesting problem. My laptop is 1400x1050 and I haven't noticed any
significant issues with Eclipse on Ubuntu as opposed to Windows [I
previously had Windows and Eclipse installed on the same laptop]. Maybe
you could post a link to a screen shot and we could compare?

I didn't write this page - Nathan Anderson did. Nathan - any advice?

Me too, at home have Ubuntu and Eclipse 3.2 on laptop, but I'm reluctant
to
use it, because Eclipse is so wasteful of screen space, especially in
vertical (screen res 1280x800 resolution). Perhaps GTK is to blame, but
I
don't know how this works, or if it is configurable.
Have you had any success getting Eclipse to look like as nice as it does
on
Windows?
