yes, i agree with you that the current naming convention requires some
tidying up. We are aware of this but the clean up did not make to rc6 so
you will have to put up with this for a while longer. To shed some light on
this:

Unlike 0.7, the 0.8 does not allow for multiple datasets to reside in one
mart unless they behave like a group ei datasets  sharing the same filters
and attributes: (example: species in ensembl or cancer types in ICGC).
"config" is being replaced by "access point". Access point describes the
configuration of a dataset (or a group of datasets if they reside in one
mart).
