Hi Jayson,
Are your datasets in the same database or they are in different
database/schemas ?

Syed

Hello Arek,
Thank you for the reply. In my case the two tables contain identical
data structures but for different species so a group sounds like what I
want. How do I setup a group that shares the same structure? Right now
if I group the two configs (access points) I still need to setup each
config and in the end I am unable to switch between the two in the
website (martwizard).
Thanks again,
Jayson

Hi Jayson,
yes, i agree with you that the current naming convention requires some
tidying up. We are aware of this but the clean up did not make to rc6 so
you will have to put up with this for a while longer. To shed some light
on this:
Unlike 0.7, the 0.8 does not allow for multiple datasets to reside in
one mart unless they behave like a group ei datasets sharing the same
filters and attributes: (example: species in ensembl or cancer types in
ICGC). "config" is being replaced by "access point". Access point
describes the configuration of a dataset (or a group of datasets if they
reside in one mart).

Hello again Biomart developers,
I’m having issues understanding the dataset/database naming convention
in 0.8. I have two mysql tables in one mysql database. I would like to
add these two tables to BioMart as two separate datasets in one
database. By default when I add these two data tables and create two
corresponding configs they have the same dataset name (named after the
database) and different database names (config names). This is opposite
of what I would like. If I group these two configs they appear to have
the same database name and dataset name. I can then rename the datasets
under “Data Source Management”, which appears to work, but I am unable
to change datasets in the mart wizard. I’ve tried renaming the dataset
in various other places without any luck. Overall I’m confused regarding
the naming conventions here… config name, dataset name, source name,
group. Any help?
Thank you,
Jayson
