Hi Alex,

The immediate implications are (read further before you shout me): It
stays at it currenty is.

An important thing to know is that the recent developer snapshot, and
unfortunately also the Beta, do not mark the current state of the art in
this respect. We have a CWS which fixed quite a lot of issues, which
unfortunately didn't make it into Beta anymore. While I definately wish
it would have been otherwise, that's the sad truth (and I am very well
aware of the negative feedback this might give us).

Every issue which is still open then, and serious enough (and we take
crashes very serious, no matter in which frequency they appear), will be
fixed before the final release. If they are on OOo side, we will fix
them. If they are on HSQLDB side, I have founded hope that Fred will fix
them, or assist us in fixing them, even if he will not spend all his
time to the integration project.

It's true that without Fred's help, we will not be able to offer
additional desirable features. However, I am absolutely confident that
we are still able to offer a working (and still feature-rich!) solution,
which can be used for daily work. Note that we never expected to produce
an MS Access killer with the first shot - not even our marketing should
be *that* afflicted with illusions :).
Finally, we need challenges for post-2.0, don't we? ;-)

So, in short I believe that independent from the result of the call,
OpenOffice.org Base 2.0 will ship with a viable solution.

No problem at all, I always appreciate serious and objective feedback.

Ciao
Frank
