Hello SOTL,

For JDBC I have Java run time environment installed – I think. I need to test it to verify this. I have no ides of how to do this or a source of a How-To for installation for a JDBC connection.

For ODBC I have installed ALL packages in Mandrake 10.1 with ODBC in the title. I have attempted to test per “OpenOffice.org 1.0, ODBC, and MySQL How-To” which I got from www.unixodbc.org/doc/OOoMySQL.pdf by usage of isql. ODBC is not functioning.
Can you tell me the name and version nummer of all this packages.

Mechtilde on the OpenOffice users list sent me a URL to a How-To he is developing @ www.mechtilde.de This is all in German but Babblefish works great an I was able to translate it. According to this tutorial for Debian the following packages are required:

Packages Installed
openoffice.org-2.0 openoffice.org
unixodbc-2.2.4-11 unixodbc
mysql-client-4.1-4.1.11-1 mysql-client-4.1
mysql-common-4.1-4.1.11-1 mysql-common-4.1
mysql-server-4.1-4.1.11-1 mysql-server-4.1

Packages Not Installed
unixodbc are-2.2.4-11 unixodbc are
this is unixodbc-bin-2.2.4-11.
odbcinst1-2.2.4-11 odbcinst1
libmyodbc-3.51.09-1 libmyodbc
libmysqlclient10-3.23.56-3 libmysqlclient10
libmysqlclient14-4.1.11-1 libmysqlclient14
libodbcinstq1-2.2.4-11 libodbcinstq1
The last packages are special for Debian. See my question above.

In relation to this I have 3 questions:
1.As I know that at times each distributions does things differently thus is this the correct set of packages?
see myqestion about yxour packages.
2.Is there a tutorial / How-To that describes the correct connection procedure for ODBC and OpenOffice 2.0 similar to the one for 1.0?
If you install all packages you have to configure your odbc.ini in your home directory and your odbcinst.ini in /etc.
the Installtion for 2.0 is easier than fpr 1.1.x.
If you tell me show me your file I've a look on it.
3.Is there a tutorial / How-To that describes the correct installation procedure for JDBC?
I don't know one for 2.0

Help would be appreciated.
I hope I can help you a little bit.

Thanks

SOTL

PS: Hopefully I am not on the wrong list for these questions. If so should i go to the OpenOffice users list or to the Mandrake users list?

Thanks again.
