Now I want to create one from, In which I can do the following:
I want to specify the date of the event once. (It should put this
information in the Event database and remember the EventID.)
Then I want to have a subform to input the visitors.
Upon entering the VisitorID I want the picture of the visitor to come up.
And some other data from the Visitor table.
Also upon entering it should store the EventID and the VisitorID in
the Event_2_Visitor table.
So basicly I want to add new information to both Event and
Event_2_Visitor. As well as query Visitor for some Visitor information
that should be displayed directly (or after some event e.g.
buttonclick or something)

Hello again Willem,

I had a few minutes free, so I put together a quick example of a very simple form that does most of what you ask. You can download the ODB file as http://www.paintedfrogceramics.com/OpenOffice/eventKeeper/eventKeeper.odb

I Hope this helps get you started on your solution.

To everyone,

I am also hoping that this small database might stimulate a little more discussion on this list - specifically regarding the usability of Base's inferface for this kind of application. The example database that I put up for download took, literally, 20 minutes for me to create. ( create the tables, create a form to populate some images, create the eventAttendees form ) Yet I would contend that there is a sizable user group that would be totally baffeled as to how to approach this, and that there are simple things that could be changed in Base that would help change this.

The question really is this : Is it the interface or the documentation, or a combination of both.

So, if anyone would like - download the file, take a look at the form. Ask youself a question. If you didn't know much about database's in general and Base spricifically - in other words if you leaned heavily on the wizards to get things done - would you be able to reproduce this form? If not - is there some way Base could be enahnced to make it so?

Best regards

Drew
