I don't think, that this form is a solution. If I understand Willem
correct, than he want to see the information and the picture of the
visitor before EventID and VisitorID are entered in the
Event_2_Visitor table. This is not possible with the form
EventAttendees, because the subform does not already show the datas
when the visitor is selected, but only when the new entry for
Event_2_Visitor has been written to the table.
I stumbled over that problem some days before, see thread "form for
n:m relation".
Hi Regina,
I was hoping that we could use this scenario as a good way to start a
positive discussion of enhancements ( tweaks, really ) to the UI. It is
always easy for me to point out what is missing, much harder I find to
point towards good solutions. Experience has also lead me to the belief
that the best solutions are those found from discussions among teams of
people. Now, we are users and as such can't expect that anything we
might discuss would make it into the product per se, but I bet the
developers would like to hear our ideas.
As for the particular example, yes I know it is not the full
implementation of what he wanted, that is why I said ' 'hope this gets
you started...' and not ' here it is.'. :-)
Yes, there should be tutorials with little example database files,
which focus on one problem. The tutorials can be online, they need not
to be in the online help. So when I have a question like "How set up a
form for the connection table of a n:m relationship?", I will find a
suitable example. Or for this question, "How can I get a picture into
my database?" You will find nothing in the help and the wizard will
not help you.
Well, in truth there are examples of just this sort of thing ( assuming
I understand your question completely, and that may not be the case ) at
the OOOForum site. Unfortunately the search mechanisim there does not
seem to be all that great, or so it would seem from the number of people
that seem not to use it. The other problem with that resource, is that
of search engines ( google, ask, etc ) not finding this type of
information..but I have no idea how to overcome that.
