Having read the spec,

I understand better how that works, so as you say, there must be something 
else.

Not as far as I know, but then I'm not an expert on the FoxPro format.

Well "I would if I could, but I can't so I shan't" as we used to say when I 
was a kid ;-) I no longer have Windows or any kind of FoxPro db lying around, 
but the OP might be able to help us out if his files aren't confidential. ;-)
