(Sorry for the delay in reply. I had to be away for a few hours.)

I see. That is still very good. I was just unable to find the commands
of how to write data there. That is, the tool bar commands for save,
edit data, cut, paste, and data input, are all grayed out. Then there
above those are the File, Edit (all lines grayed out except "copy"),
view, tools, window, and help options but none of them seem to have any
option to edit the edit the data, add a row, add a column. And I can't
even put my cursor in any of the cells of the table. In fact, there is
no cursor. In short, in my computer the table and the data in it looks
like a picture window. You can see it, but you can't do anything with
it.

That is great.

But first, I guess I'd have to get the "write" function solved.

ok. I can do that. It is a very simple table really. The first column is
just has dates in it. In MS Access it is of type "date/time". And I am
not using any times. Just dates. For example yesterday when I tried it,
the date in the first cell was 11/20/78. But you saw the error it came
up with. It acted as if there were time there as well. Today I've just
tried it again. Since then I've entered more rows to the table. Now in
the first row in the first cell, there is no data because the date isn't
known for that item. But I still got an error message-- it says: "Wrong
data type: java.type.NumberFormatException." What could be wrong with
the data type now, as there is no data?!! Actually, I should say that
there is one column before the date column. It is the ID#, that is MS
Access's Primary key. Don't know if that could have anything to do with
it.

And I've tried this import with a variety of tables having a variety of
data types in the first column. Sometimes just "text". And on two
different computers. Still gives an error.

But if it will be helpful to solve this, I can certainly create the
table with one cell which you requested, and send it to you.

Swarup
