Yes, I told oo.org to use the new jvm (what a stupid concept, imho, why not
by default just use what's in /usr/bin/java or $JAVA_HOME?)
dito for jconnect, I used com.sybase.jdbc3 or whatever the new classes are
for jConnect 6.
most likely you are using an older version driver to connect to a newer
version database.
So no, that's not the case (and the db version has not changed, btw).
Still, thanks.
Meanwhile, I tried using unixodbc/freetds, which strangely shows exactly the
same behaviour (#63448 on the dba bugtracker say that ODBC should work.)
Will try the Symantec ODBC drivers next
Well, one other thought. Under Linux the first thing I do now is replace
the distro's version of OpenOffice.org with the vanilla build. For the
Base module it really makes a difference. In fact it seems to be the
build itself, recently a bunch of folks at the Forum have been raving
about the go-ooo builds and I decided to give their latest build a try.
For Calc...nice..for Base it is not so good at all. It lasted on my
machine for about 3 hours, and was removed, all the same problems I had
with the Ubuntu supplied versions. But I suppose you are already using
the Openoffice.org vanilla builds.
I suppose you tried reverting to the older Jconnect version also?
