I don't have an idea why this behaviour should change from 2.0 to 2.3
(though, well, there happened *a lot* inbetween, and I certainly don't
remember everything), but one thing you could try: Go to Edit / Database
/ Advanced Settings, and check the "Ignore the privileges from the
database driver" [1] box. The re-open the form, and see if you can edit
the data now.

[1] can somebody of the native speakers please confirm or falsify my
feeling that this is bad English? The "from" sounds suspicious to
me.
