For the record ....

Some of your descriptions were a little imprecise :) in that you did not
say *how* you opened the DB docs in the various scenarios.

A bug which has meanwhile been submitted and fixed (for both the 2.4 and
the 3.0 branch) was that DB docs opened *from within the 'New Database'
wizard* silently disabled macro execution. It does not matter for this
how you start this wizard.

If this is also the common denominator in your scenarios - macros don't
work when you open the file from the wizard, and do work when the file
is opened from elsewhere -, then this issue should be fixed in RC3
respectively DEV300m2 (or m3).

Otherwise, please elaborate.
