The "order by" also disqualifies queries from being used as the basis
for a DISTINCT query, I forget when that started but it's true on
WinXP in 2.4.1 and at least one earlier release. So this apparently
goes deeper than the SRB and version 3. I couldn't see why this
restriction was introduced, but I thought it was by design and just
made the unsorted versions of the queries I needed. I ran into it on
a query with a join, but it happens on an unjoined one also.
Hello Barbara,
I haven't been able to reproduce any problems with queries using ORDER
BY and DISINCT in 2.4.1, 3.0.1 or DEV3.1. Either running the queries
or using them to feed SRB reports.
You don't have an example database with such a query by any chance do
you?
Best wishes,
Drew
I have a database, but it's too big for reasonable distribution and has
some possibly sensitive stuff. I'll try to create an example. I do have
a screen shot showing the relevant SQL and the error message, if that's
any use.
