The log you put online shows that even asking for the data in the MySQL console produces garbage, and here no OOo is invoked at all. As a conclusion, I tend to think this is a problem of your MySQL setup (though I don't know enough 'bout encodings in MySQL to have any further idea, sorry). Does retrieving data with other tools (e.g. you could try NetBeans) produce proper results?
